Helpful Tips Before You Go

On a Falkland Islands cruise, you’ll see Port Stanley referred to just as Stanley, too. Both names are widely used to refer to the capital city.

Its southern location near Antarctica gives Port Stanley a nearly polar climate, though it’s mild enough that vegetation can still easily grow. For packing, this type of climate means you’ll want plenty of warm layers. The sea breezes can be chilly, but walking around town can get warm, so it’s easiest to wear lighter layers under heavier layers and bring a daypack to put any discarded jackets or sweaters in.
